SIN – SYD Anniversary

Singapore Part 1

It has been almost a year since my first Singapore – Sydney trip and I was happy to be reunited with it again. At lot has changed since the last time I went. We have changed hotels so in a different location which means new things to explore.

My first day in Singapore was spent by the pool relaxing and feeding my face (the usual). I love the food whenever I come on eastern trips as I feel it always tastes so much nicer and of course I had to wash it all down with a fresh coconut.

There was a few things that I didn’t get to do while in Singapore last year so I tried to make sure that I went this time round. First up was the light show at Gardens by the bay. These are artificial trees that light up and a two times in the evening (7:45pm and 8:45pm) the lights “dance” along with some music. It is rather mesmerising and its a free non-ticketed event, so no excuse not to go and see it.

After the light show, we then walked down to the Marina promenade to watch another show. This one is called the Spectre Laser Light show. It is similar to the water fountains in Las Vegas in Dubai, however these fountains have coloured laser lights underneath and dance along to the music “telling a story”. Another free event not to be missed!

Other than the weather in Singapore, the food is the next best thing. That evening after watching all the light shows we went to experience the local food and I wasn’t disappointed as usual. Pineapple fried rice is now my new favourite thing.

With only 24 hours in Sydney you have to try and make the most of the time that you get there. As we land in the morning, the first stop is to go and get breakfast. We went to a lovely cafe by the harbour called City Cafe. There is so much to choose off the menu but I always try to opt for something healthy…

After breakfast we then got on a ferry and made our way to Camp Cove which is just a short walk from Watson’s bay. This is a lovely quiet beach area that’s great for families especially if you don’t like the hustle and bustle of Bondi Beach.

As one beach is just never enough, we decided that we would make our way over to Bondi Beach and enjoy what was left of the sunshine. This is a very popular beach so make sure you come prepared!

Sydney Part 2

I think one of the reasons Singapore is my favourite trip is because there is always something to do! On the second part of my singapore trip, a few of us decided we would venture to Sentosa and zip-wire across the beach. It was such an amazing experience and I would do it all over again (probably will if/when I get a Singapore again). If you are in ever there then the company we went with is called MegaZip

Another must at Sentosa is to go to Co + Nut +Ink. They sell amazing coconut ice-cream/sorbet with different toppings. I tried the red ruby topping which is a mix of tapioca flour and water chestnuts. You can also try nuts and raisins. Once you are done you can wash it all down with some coconut water.

I wish my trips in Singapore was longer but I enjoy the time that I get to spend there. Until next time!

    Great blog!
Do you know a girl called Jen who works for BA mixed fleet? She’s based at Heathrow but commutes from Birmingham.
