Gatwick Fleet

A few months ago I decided to apply to transfer to Gatwick Fleet, so I thought I would do a small quick post on my process and answer a few questions about it.

Applied: 26th April 2018

I applied internally through the company website so I didn’t have to go through the whole assessment day process. It was a quick and simple 5 minute application.

Invited to Interview: 1st May 2018

I heard back really quickly and the next step was to go online and book a slot for an internal interview with someone from Gatwick.

Interview: 15th May 2018

As I was still flying throughout the month, the quickest I could book an interview was two weeks later on one of my days off. I went to the interview in my uniform (instead of the usually business wear) as this is what many people have done before purely because it is what I would be wearing for the job.

Interview Response: 22nd May 2018

The process seems to be a lot quicker internally, as I heard back from Gatwick really quickly. They sent an email saying that I had been successful in the interview and were offering me a place at Gatwick Fleet. I just had to send an email responding back whether I wanted to accept the offer or not. However, they were enable to give me a start date as I had to wait until Mixed Fleet released me due to manpower at the base.

Contract Sent: 9th July 2018

Finally received my contract in the post with my start date and all the information about my terms and conditions of what I needed to do before I transferred over.

Start Date: 15th August 2018

The date I officially transfer and start at Gatwick Fleet. I start off with a ground day at the Crew centre just so that I get used to everything there and how it works. I collect my new ID and spend the day there before my first flight out the next day!

Why move?

I have been at mixed fleet for over two years now and have got to see so many destinations which I am truly grateful for. However, I fancied a change of scenery. See some more exciting new routes, meet some amazing new people! So see you soon Gatwick Fleet and thank you Mixed Fleet for some amazing memories!

The main difference is Gatwick fleet are based out of Gatwick and Mixed Fleet are based out of Heathrow. They both do different routes, slightly different pay and conditions.
